Neurodiversity Team

Let’s break down the word neurodivergence. It refers to the natural differences in the way people’s brains process information, learn, and experience the world. This includes conditions like ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, Tourette’s, and many others. But it’s not just about labels—it’s about recognizing that human brains are diverse, and that diversity is normal.

What Neurodiversity-Affirming Care Means
When a therapist is neurodiversity-affirming, it means they don’t see neurodivergence as something that needs to be “fixed” or “cured.” Instead, they respect it as an important part of who you are. Affirming care focuses on supporting your strengths, helping with challenges in a practical way, and working together to create strategies that align with your needs—not forcing you to fit into a mold that wasn’t made for you.

Why It Matters
Unfortunately, many neurodivergent people have had the opposite experience—feeling misunderstood, judged, or pressured to mask their true selves. This can be exhausting and even harmful to mental health. A neurodiversity-affirming therapist creates a safe space where you don’t have to hide or pretend. You can explore your goals, struggles, and strengths authentically, and know that your lived experience will be validated and respected.

At the end of the day, seeing a neurodiversity-affirming therapist isn’t about changing who you are—it’s about embracing your unique wiring and finding ways to thrive. Because you deserve therapy that sees you fully, honors your differences, and helps you live authentically.
