Suicide Risk Assessment and Management
Available spots
Service Description
Mastering suicide risk and treatment is crucial for therapists to learn because clients who are chronically suicidal or trapped in lives of misery can be particularly challenging to treat. When both the client and therapist feel stuck, progress can seem impossible. This training will equip clinicians with essential skills to assess suicide risk, implement early intervention strategies, and manage their own fears in high-acuity situations. Given the high probability that any therapist will encounter a suicidal or self-harming client in their career especially those practicing DBT it is vital to have a structured approach to assessment and treatment. A core focus of this training is guiding clients toward building a life worth living as the foundation of suicidality treatment. Mindfulness plays a key role in this process, serving as both a client intervention and a crucial tool for clinician resilience. Attendees will learn practical methods to teach mindfulness, incorporate it into their own self-care, and adapt its use for children and adolescents.
