Kayla Smith LPC
My goal is to empower people as they work towards improving their mental health and creating the life they want for themselves. To achieve this goal, I assist clients in discovering/identifying their strengths, processing emotions, and creating plans for positive change. I provide a non-judgmental and safe space to promote creativity and openness, with a focus on creating a comfortable working relationship.
I work with adults who are struggling with anxiety/depression, trauma, life transitions, and parenting stress. I also work with neurodivergent adults. Every person is different, so I tailor my approach to fit individual needs and interests. My clinical specialties include play/art therapy, trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness practices, and narrative therapy.
I work with children ranging in ages 4-18 years, with diagnoses including but not limited to, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism, and Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. My approach when working with children is to meet them on their level and provide care in a way that works to interest and engage them. I practice from a holistic approach that involves the child’s family and caretakers in their treatment as best meets client needs.
I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology with a minor in Spanish from the University of Toledo and my Masters in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Cincinnati.
